Cope with the Dopes

And how does one cope many-a year in prison Stuck in the presence of manifold idiocy? Patience with a view toward Providence: Indeed, our Lord, the God of all jails Who rules even amidst of the lawless gatekeepers And is able to console all with His Holy Spirit. Yes, the Lord of all is not banished from jail (You know He even went down to hell)! He can surely enter into a U.S. prison; He who from the clutches of death has risen! The Spirit, not bound by doors or walls, Can come through dark and dingy halls And meet with those who call on Him; Nothing stops the will of the Almighty. So enjoy your prayers with coffee or tea And know that He controls everything Even those who cannot cease to sing Their canon of regular, timeless hymns. Whether new or old, He hears them all In winter, spring, summer and fall.
