Death came to Hugh As it came to Matthew And will come to one and all. And while caught up in the thrall Of life’s actions and speculations, Best to focus upon relations, Especially with the Maker Rather than the Taker. O, the devil would have us fall For those “blessings” that come to all, Those delights of the life Which with sweetness are rife, But turn out most sourly. Time is short and we must abort Any attraction for “this world” Away from our constant obsession With our One True Possession, Our Lord whom we hold dear And through whom we have no fear.
0808 on 22 Dec., 2021 (two minutes) Press on, family! Our Lord reigns – victorious over death. Hugh trusted Him and, joining Matthew, lives evermore, victoriously.
