The Son of God

(Yet another meditation)

Not a “son” as one created.

Not a “son” as one inferior, stupid, or foolish – as a young child.

Rather, a son as on of the same nature, dignity, and lineage as his father.  A son who is loyal and faithful and loves his kinsmen and does all things right and good for the family.  A true son is loved by his father above all others (servants, kinsmen, angels).

A son retains all the innate characteristics of his father (deity in this case!).

THE Son of God is one who is of the same “kind” of  “nature” as His Father.  He, like the Father, is divine.   He, like the Father, is eternal.  He, like the Father is omniscient, omnipresent, and eternal.  

We don’t know the extent to which he limited Himself in the exercise of these attributes when He took human flesh upon himself and became man.  But He did refrain from exercising and displaying His divine attributes.

As a son, he submitted to his father’s will.  As God, the Son, He did so perfectly, pleasing the Father and successfully won our salvation!

If you follow a god other than this Triune God of the Scriptures which the Church has preached down through the centuries and affirmed in the creeds, you are an idolater, a fool, or a heretic (or all of the above). You may be following the god of the Mormons or Jehovah’s Witnesses or Wierville’s Way – all false teachers – liars and anti-Christs.

Get it right and get tight with Him and His people. Worship with them the one, true, triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
