Those Benighted “Progressives”

There are those who fancy themselves “progressives” – as if they are leading the nation in some kind of progress from darkness and into light.  Their unfortunate assumption, however, is that those who hold firmly to God’s Word are, really, in darkness, stuck in the past with that “ol’ timey religion” with all its archaic prohibitions against such “freedoms” as sodomy and abortion.   Accordingly, they would like to call us (normal, traditional, historic) Christians out of the “darkness” of restricting a woman’s “right” to butcher her child and into the light of “choice” whereby she may maintain her liberty to pursue her own life without the hindrance of an obstructive, menacing infant.

Indeed, decadent humanity is always – apart from the application of God’s Word by His followers and advocates – veering ever-downward into Lawless decadence.  It behooves us, who herald His light, the Scriptures – the message of God, penned for us by His very prophets – to open our mouths and provide for these pitiful, wayward ones, the Truth by which they may climb out of their pits.

They, of course, trapped in their sin-ridden mental condition, will not be naturally receptive to the message we bring for their consideration.  We must, then, be patient and trust in the sovereignty of God to open their foul, corrupt minds according to His own holy, personal purposes and timing.   Our God will, according to His own good pleasure and design, open those minds that He chooses, when and in what manner He wills.  

And He will leave to their natural, decadent, damned course, those who are untouched by His sovereign grace for salvation.

Yes, and He will remain absolutely just in His choice to leave a sinner alone to His own natural, personal, selfish course of destruction.  He is obligated by no one to rescue any damned sinner.
