Against the Proud and Lofty

Isaiah 2:12-3:4

Against the proud and lofty The Lord will have His day The pride of man will be humbled In all that nasty fray. Those idols will be gone (18) When He turns His terror upon (19) Those fake gods of silver and gold! (20) So what do you worship these days? Wrapped up in those worldly ways? You’ll give it up when His terror comes down; When He judges, He doesn’t mess around! Throw it away to the moles and bats (20) And hide wherever you can, man! That splendor and terror of His majesty Is something no sinner wants to see. You know it’s the Lord you got to fear; (22) From wrath you got to steer clear. (21) He will take away all your protection. (3:1f) Your skilled leaders will all be gone! ‘Twill be chaos and anarchy for all. Children will be running the show! (4)
