Jephthah’s Vow

Jephthah was a whore’s son But for him there was no fun. One day there came a summons. Said, “Come on!  We need some help!” He said, “So now you want to yelp!” You shunned me as a whore’s son But now you want a portion Of my might to set you right! You hate me know more? What for? Ah, the sons of Ammon are at your door! And now you despise me no more! You count on me to join in the fray, Save you from enemies and win the day? “Yeah, we’ll make you king! Just do this thing!” So he made a rash vow unto the Lord Said, “Lord if You deliver us from this horde I’ll sacrifice whatever comes out Of those doors to meet me, Yeah, I’ll offer it up sweetly! Then out came his dancing daughter Whom by his word he must slaughter. Why not just step aside, Solve it with simple suicide?
