The Pride of Man

(Is. 2:17f.)

The pride of man will be humbled, His loftiness will be abased; Records of human glory erased. Folks will find a hole to stick their heads, Runnin’ crazy; won’t even make the beds! When the Lord brings it all down, There’ll be nothin’ but frowns. Since they failed to behave They’ll be runnin’ for the cave; Gonna be real nasty condition; Won’t find no relief in patriotism. You got to turn before y’all burn. The joy of His commands, you got to learn. Don’t glory in your own biography; Why the praise of others do you seek? (22) Whether you land in the sea, The ground or a chiffonier Make sure that the one you hold dear. When you walked around in this life Was the Lord above your kids and even your wife? 1005 on 18 July
