To Die Is Gain

I know that You are “good” and “kind,” But I also really know that You are rough! You sanctify the softies and the tough. We rebel sinners are in need of reform And You bring on sometimes a storm To shake us out of our foolishness And bring us back toward Your holiness. Better, indeed, that You pull out the weeds And by sanctification give us what we need. Our sin we must shun and from it be cleansed, By trial and tribulations, sufferings, even the bends. Bring it on, O Lord, that we might be holy And live out a life of service bringing You glory! O, sometimes that softy Christian music drags A listener into false expectations of comfort and ease But it is Your glory we seek and You we must please.
