Vain Foundations

What of those who want their names Remembered in the pages of history? To secure such extension of life They create an enduring “foundation” Bearing a name for all to hear Rather than one for God Whom all are called to fear. O pitiful resort to vain pride Unable the coming death to abide. For what name ought we to seek and render fame? None but His Who our souls did claim! Whose glory do we unfurl? Whose is the name we secure For the world to honor and remember? None but the One who got it all done And wrapped up the deal with the Law, A penalty paid for the souls of all. There is no other name to remember Or think of from January to December. The Father, the Son, and the Spirit will do; No other god will get you through. The Spirit leads us to the great Mediator Who was sent to us by our holy Creator. So back off from self-glorification; Has all the value of a defecation! Get on with Godly celebration Of Him Who saved the nation And even all the world When wrath on sin He unfurled. There is a heaven and a hell; Those of the latter fare not well. Have done with lesser things! Need to get those heavenly wings. Got your name on heaven’s roll call? If not, you ain’t gonna have a ball; You’ll be dancin’ with the Devil, that’s all. Not much of a life for all your strife; Do what’s best for you and your wife! On no proud man have pity; Advance the Gospel in every city. For your children by your life Be a witness to all you meet: In your home or in the street, Pass the Message into every heart; Make your own family the start. 1325 an 19 July, 2022 and 2015 on 21 July, 2022
